Corinne’s photograph of the Godafoss Waterfalls

Iceland lived up to its name – despite the summer season! All onboard Fred Olsen’s popular cruise ship, the Black Watch, enjoyed spectacularly beautiful scenery at all ports around the island. Some of the highlights being the Godafoss Waterfalls and the Hot Springs near Akureki. It was a photographer’s haven… Enjoy Corinne’s photos!

Hallgrimskirkja, Reykjavik

The Hallsgrìmskirkja in Reykjavik was another stunning sight and the blue sky a picturesque backdrop for photographs.

The two concerts scheduled for the final two sea days were well received with cheers from the audience who then swamped the onboard shop to purchase their copies of Corinne’s CD’s.

Another highlight was the sighting of whales in one of the Icelandic Fiords as well as the magical Aurora Borealis on the penultimate cruise night. Quite incredible!

All in all, another fabulous experience with Fred Olsen.

Recitals on the Cape Verde to Cape Town Cruise

the Boudicca

In January 2016, Corinne and Kim enjoyed one of their best cruises yet onboard Fred Olsen’s beautiful ship, the Boudicca. They gave four recitals of music for mezzo soprano and piano which included a double evening show on Saturday 23rd January 2016. Their concerts were well received by audiences who appreciated the variety of music styles on offer. Piano solos written by Chopin, Sinding, Palmgren, Grainger, Winifred Atwell, Billy Mayerl and Thomas “Fats” Waller continued to be amongst the audience’s favourites.

This cruise visited the spectacular island of St Helena where Napoleon was exiled for the last 6 years of his life; Walvis Bay and the German town of Luderitz in Namibia, and Cape Town where Corinne and Kim left the ship to fly back to the UK.

Corinne is now looking forward to a cruise to Germany on the rivers at the end of April where she will play not only music on the piano, but also the oboe, cor anglais, soprano and tenor saxophones. Her programmes will include music in a range of styles including musicals, films, jazz, swing-time, and classical favourites.

Cruise Itinerary 2016

Corinne will accompany mezzo soprano, Kim Brown, on Fred Olsen’s Boudicca to Cape Town from 16th to 29th January. She is also booked as the Classical Act on Fred Olsen’s ship the Braemar cruising along the German Waterways from 25th April to 5th May and on The Black Watch to Iceland from 25th August to 3rd September 2016. All very exciting!

January Cruise

Following a successful series of recitals onboard the Braemar Cruise Ship sailing to and around Norway in July 2014, Corinne and Kim are now making preparations for more concerts onboard the Black Watch.
Funchal is our first port of call where the sun shines all year round and the gardens have stunning displays of exotic flowers. We will explore this modern and vibrant city, and perhaps take a trip to the charming village of Santana, with its unusual triangular thatched houses.

From here, we’ll cruise on to Santa Cruz in Tenerife, where the Spanish way of life influences the city. Witnessing the beautiful beaches to the natural beauty of Mount Teide, and from the many Spanish restaurants to exciting Loro Parque.

Mindelo in the Cape Verde Islands is next, where traces of its Portuguese heritage are still evident, particularly in the Governor’s Palace and City Hall. We will try to visit the fascinating Municipal Market and explore the tiny shops in the town while we’re there.

Our cruise ship then takes us to Salvador in Brazil, also with Portuguese influences, coupled with African traditions. We’re looking forward to seeing many ornate churches and imposing public buildings in the Upper City, which are monuments to the wealth generated by the sugar-cane and tobacco trades. The people of Salvador also have a carnival at the beginning of each year, as in Rio so that will be fun!

We then head off to Rio de Janeiro which is a lively and exciting city with many easily recognised points of interest. We’re hoping to take a stroll along Copacabana Beach or a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain; or marvel the largest Art Deco statue in the world; and definitely Christ the Redeemer at the peak of Corcovado Mountain before heading home to Heathrow! It’s going to be an interesting and exciting time!

Cruise to Rio

Corinne and Kim Kim and Corinne enjoyed a successful cruise to Brazil in January 2015.  They visited the beautiful island of Madeira, followed by Tenerife, Mindelo in the Cape Verde Islands and then, after a 5 days crossing of the Atlantic, they finally arrived in Salvador.  A further two days cruise took them to Rio di Janiero where an early rise at 5.15am meant they could enjoy the gentle cruise into the harbour past Sugar Loaf Mountain and past the Rio Niteroi Bridge, beneath the gaze of Christ The Redeemer.  It was a sight to behold and one that the camera simply could not do justice to!

Onboard, their four recitals entitled: “Invocation”, “Romance”, “Montage” and “Light Reflections” were well received by the large audiences in the Neptune Lounge.
